Hard lessons of Brexit

-

WHAT has Brexit taught me? Britain is only a democracy when it suits the rich and powerful.

most politicians regard the public as an inconvenience to be tolerated or neanderthals to be ignored.

The impartiality of the judiciary is suspect. The CBi is incapable of learning from its mistakes. The BBC is a self-serving organisation that ignores with impunity the terms of its charter on impartiality.

Celebrities believe their political outpourings are valued by the public. Bank of England governor mark Carney and Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond are remainers. never trust a politician who tells you that your decision will be honoured. The majority of the public were not cowed by Project Fear and voted for Brexit.

RICHARD REEVES, Bexhill-on-Sea, E. Sussex. THE u.S., Japan, China and Hong Kong are only a few of the countries where we have increased exports without them demanding we pay exorbitant fees, jump through hoops or adhere to endless regulations.

Who can remember lorry queues at Dover and shortages of food and medicine before joining the Eu? no one, because it didn’t happen. The majority of the problems we are being warned about are imagined or are being manufactured by those desperate to thwart Brexit.

ALAN SHARPE, Melton Mowbray, Leics. i VOTED remain and i think Brexit will be a disaster but i wish people would stop talking about it as though exiting the Eu was a Tory Party decision.

The people voted Leave, not the Tories, and so we must get on with it – that’s democracy.

JOANNE DuNLOP, Irvine, Ayrshire.
