I am feeling the strain just one game in, admits Laszlo
CSABA LASZLO has apologised to furious Dundee United fans for his team’s opening-day defeat at home to Dunfermline — and admits he is feeling the strain just one game into the club’s Championship campaign. The Hungarian watched his side throw away a precious 1-0 lead before eventually losing 3-2 to Allan Johnston’s Pars after a second-half collapse. With United desperate to return to the top flight at the third time of asking, it was the worst possible start to the league season. Now Laszlo, whose team face a trip to Queen of the South this weekend, has delivered a message to fans in which he admits he is under pressure. ‘I have to apologise for the performance and the result on Saturday,’ he said. ‘The second half was nowhere near good enough. The players wanted me to apologise and I want to take the responsibility. ‘Am I under pressure? Yes. When you manage Dundee United, you must get back to the Premiership. ‘Of course, everyone knows better than you, but the most important thing is to stay focused. Can I convince supporters I am the man to lead the club? That isn’t a question for me. All I can do is focus on my job. ‘You can’t win every game but you don’t lose them like we did against Dunfermline. I am still confident we will be where we want to at the end of the season.’ Laszlo is close to completing his 13th summer signing with the on-loan capture of Slovenian striker Pavol Safranko, 23, from Danish side Aalborg BK.
