THE President of the National Farmers’ Union has called on the UK Government to do everything it can to increase the production of home-grown food (Mail).

Last year, I saw a large number of site preparation vehicles assembled alongside a field of ripe cereal. As the last of the crop was harvested, the vehicles moved in.

There is now a large housing development on a field that produced food for a thousand years. Perhaps the NFU president could have a word with get-rich-quick farmers.
