KOHL AND THE GANG
Artist recreates album covers... with make-up
THEY say a person’s eyes are the window to the soul.
But make-up artist Megan Graham is using hers to mirror rock and pop too.
Miss Graham, from Kilwinning, Ayrshire, decided to get creative with the eyeshadow after finding her college course too boring when it comes to face paint.
The 20-year-old has since turned her hand to replicating album covers, including Oasis, The Stone Roses and The Killers, using body paint, eyeshadow and eyeliner.
The customer service assistant usually spends an hour and a half carefully painting the intricate designs onto her eyelids and admits it is upsetting when she has to wipe them away.
Miss Graham said: ‘I am really into it. I like the creative and unconventional side of make-up.
‘There are so many people becoming make-up artists these days you have to find a niche.
‘They don’t teach you how to paint an album cover on your eyelid at college, so I did all that myself, but got the basics there.
‘I use coloured eyeliner and body paint but sometimes I use eyeshadows for shading.’
Miss Graham said most of the album covers take an hour to an hour and a half to create but a full body painting can take five hours. She added: ‘It is heartbreaking when I have to wash it off but you can’t really go out with it on.
‘I went to the supermarket with a Pink Floyd one and people were giving me weird looks, but I don’t make the habit of going out like this unless it is for a special event.’ After posting the looks online, she has received praise from followers around the world.
Miss Graham said: ‘The more I post on social media the more reaction I get. People from different countries comment on them and sometimes I can’t believe it. It is really humbling.’
