Sting still strapping at 66 ... and it’s all down to yoga!

HE has a physique many men half his age would envy. For at 66, Sting still looks very fit and toned.

And many put that down to the singer’s daily routine of Ashtanga yoga – a dynamic and demanding form of the ancient Indian exercise discipline.

The former Police frontman has been a devotee of Ashtanga yoga for more than 20 years. And the results showed as he enjoyed a day in the sun in Miami.

Dressed in swimming shorts, Sting looked impressively trim on the balcony of his Miami hotel.

A self-confessed health fanatic, he has often been pictured working his way through a series of yoga poses on the beach while on holiday in places such as the South of France.

The singer has told in the past how his daily workouts keep him in shape. His wife Trudie Styler, 64, is also a yoga fanatic.

Sting is in the US on tour with Jamaican musician Shaggy to promote their new album 44/876 – the title is a combination of the 44 area code for Great Britain and the 876 area code for Jamaica.

Their collaboration is less surprising than fans of Sting’s recent work may think.

For while his output has included jazz and folk-influenced tracks, and even Elizabethan lute music, he made his name with the reggae-inspired hits of The Police. Shaggy is best known in the UK for his songs Boombastic and Oh Carolina in the 1990s.

Speaking of their partnership, Sting told Rolling Stone: ‘The most important thing to me in any kind of music is surprise. And everybody is surprised by this collaboration – by what they’re hearing. We’re surprising.’
