Kate’s brother joins hotel staff

- By Annie Butterworth

HE may be brother-in-law to the future King, but Kate Middleton’s little brother seems to have landed a rather humble new job.

James Middleton 31, the Duchess of Cambridge’s youngest sibling, has taken a job as a guide at a Scottish hotel owned by his other sister Pippa’s father-in-law.

The apparent downturn comes after splitting with his actress girlfriend Donna Air in February, with accounts showing his novelty marshmallow business Boomf posting losses of £3million over the last three years.

The youngest of the Middletons is now working at Glen Affric Lodge near Cannich, Inverness-shire, on the 10,000-acre Glen Affric estate owned by David Matthews, father of Pippa’s hedge fund manager husband James. The new role has seen Mr Middleton posing for publicity pictures, with one showing him donning tweeds with a deerstalker, while another shows him apparently hosting guests at the luxury estate during dinner.

Mr Middleton also runs the Cake Kit Company, which delivers bespoke sweet treats and baking kits for special occasions, but it would appear the move north could be permanent.

In a recent magazine interview, he said: ‘The countryside is where I’m happiest and I’ll be taking my four dogs to Glen Affric with me.’

In June this year, Pippa’s brother-in-law Spencer Matthews, 28, and fiancée Vogue Williams, 32, were married on the Glen Affric Estate in an intimate ceremony in front of close friends and family. The groom’s brother James, 42, acted as best man while Mr Middleton also made an appearance and delivered one of three readings during the romantic nuptials.

According to the estate website, activities on offer to guests include red deer stalking, salmon fishing on the River Glass, wild brown trout fishing on Loch Affric, clay pigeon shooting and rifle target shooting.

The sprawling Highland estate and manor can cost holidaymakers £900 a night plus VAT, which includes a chauffeur service to and from Inverness airport.

The Matthews family also owns the Eden Rock St Barths resort in the Caribbean, which charges £25,000 a night for its most expensive suite and is popular with stars such as Elton John, Beyoncé, and Leonardo DiCaprio.
