Shameless! Royals’ star guests plug brands online
A WEDDING is the perfect excuse to splash out on a designer outfit and show off the photos to your friends afterwards.
But when you’re a celebrity and the bash is a royal one, then it becomes the ideal opportunity to get a plug in for all those endorsements you’ve spent years carefully cultivating.
The guests at the marriage of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank certainly weren’t shy about promoting them, with a flurry of hashtags on Instagram identifying exactly where their dresses, shoes and handbags were from.
demi Moore led the way. The Hollywood star, 55, finally signed up to Instagram on the day of the wedding, instantly attracting 62,000 followers.
She uploaded a gushing video tribute to designer Stella McCartney and danced in her wine-coloured custom dress, saying: ‘I felt so beautiful, like a Princess.’
Naomi Campbell, 48, was also in a hashtagging mood, adding milliner Philip Treacy, designers Ralph and Russo, diamond jeweller Samer Halimeh, stylist Robert Behar and make-up artist Hila Karmand to her wedding picture.
Meanwhile Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field were resplendent in Armani and Gucci and tabbed up every one of their three outfit changes on Instagram.
They found room to add Gucci, Anna Mason london, Bulgari and their stylist Karl Willett.
Between the supermodels, pop stars and Hollywood A-listers, the reception also attracted controversy for some of its guests.
Sure to raise an eyebrow were invitations for libyan gun smuggler Tarek Kaituni, 54, once a confidant of Colonel Gaddafi and a man who helped broker secret meetings between Prince Andrew and the late dictator.
Also invited was banker Harry Keogh, who resigned in disgrace from Coutts, the 300-year-old private bank used by the Queen.
The 57-year-old left this year after allegations he inappropriately touched young female staff, some of which he denied.
Also on the guest list was the chief executive of Chinese online retailer Jd.com Richard liu, whose friend Xu longwei was jailed last week for raping a model he brought to a dinner party hosted by the billionaire.
And guests included the Crown Prince of Bahrain and Qatari rulers Sheikh Hamad, Sheikh Suhaim and Sheikh Fahad. Both Gulf states have been criticised for their poor human rights records.
