Language of division
IT’S not every day the Mail agrees with Nicola Sturgeon. But the SNP leader’s warning that coarse and threatening language is debasing our political discourse is sadly true.
In recent days, it’s as if rebellious Tory MPs have been auditioning for a third-rate production of Julius Caesar. They claim that Theresa May is ‘entering the killing zone’, say ‘assassination is in the air’, and warn that for a meeting with backbenchers she should ‘bring her own noose’.
Do these political pygmies have any idea how ridiculous they sound? While Mrs May is trying desperately to secure the best Brexit deal for her country, all they can do is sit on the sidelines posturing.
Unless they have a viable alternative plan (which of course they don’t), they should stop this pathetic attention seeking and start putting loyalty before vanity.
