Eyesore visible on satellite

VISIBLE on satellite images, this rubbish is thought to be the biggest abandoned plastic recycling heap in Britain.

The waste, stacked several yards high and weighing 500,000 tons, was meant to be shipped abroad to be recycled more than five years ago. It sits on an abandoned airfield in North Killingholme, near Grimsby, Lincolnshire, and will cost the council £6.3million to clear. Residents say it is affecting house sales and encouraging rats.
