It’s the start of the school year, and James Pope (pictured centre with Julie Thomas and Stuart Emery), the head teacher of Marlwood School in South Gloucestershire, is facing a perfect storm — his school has been deemed inadequate by Ofsted at the same time as budgets are being cut for the fourth consecutive year.
