EPISODE two of this eyeopening series on the state of education in modern Britain. It’s the start of the school year, and James Pope (pictured centre with Julie Thomas and Stuart Emery), the head teacher of Marlwood School in South Gloucester­shire, is facing a perfect storm — his school has been deemed inadequate by Ofsted at the same time as budgets are being cut for the fourth consecutiv­e year.

IN THIS special film for Children In Need, Stacey Dooley (pictured) takes a break from the Strictly dance floor as she travels the country to meet some of the 100,000 young people who are classed as homeless in Britain today. It’s a sobering report that will encourage you to dig deep on Friday night.

MARTIN SCORSESE’S rich and intoxicati­ng gangster drama intertwine­s the stories of a core ensemble of Mafiosi and their women. Ray Liotta narrates as Henry Hill, for whom being a gangster was ‘better than being the President of the United States’. Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Lorraine Bracco also star.
