Secombe is the young entertaine­r from a music-hall family who wants to break free and go solo.

FIRST-CLASS FOOD MasterChef Australia, 6pm, W

THE finale of a season that has played host to such culinary royals as Gordon Ramsay and Nigella Lawson, as well as an actual royal — Prince Charles. For the big finish, Heston Blumenthal is on hand as the contenders try to create a dessert with 19 elements.

FOOTBALL Scotland v Israel, 7pm, Sky Main Event

SCOTLAND’S final group match in the Nations League takes place at Hampden Park. Scotland lost 2-1 in a shock result in the reverse fixture, but after a 4-0 victory over Albania, they can still finish top and gain promotion with a win.

CAPTAIN MAINWARING Saluting Dad’s Army, 8pm, Gold

WE GET more of the fascinatin­g inside track on the comedy as part three hears from Arthur Lowe’s son, Stephen, about how status-conscious his father was both on and off set. ‘It was like he thought he was the captain of the ship . . . [The cast] teased him rotten about it.’ Presenter Alexander Armstrong also meets locals from Thetford, Norfolk, which stood in for Walmington-on-Sea.

BIG BUILDING Impossible Engineerin­g, 8pm, Yesterday

THE largest movable building in the world is the subject as this fact-filled series returns. Simon Evans helps to explain this marvel of engineerin­g, a 36,000-tonne beast that is big enough to cover St Paul’s Cathedral and has been built to cover the Chernobyl nuclear plant.

PIRATE ACTION Black Sails, 9pm, History

WHO is the cunning John Silver underneath it all? He’s an elusive character in the Treasure Island book, and in the penultimat­e episode of this prequel — which takes place on the island itself — it’s a question that Flint needs to address. Aside from that, this episode has several pulse-pounding sword fights.

THE Viking-Saxon drama has moved from BBC2 to Netflix for its new, third series, in which Alfred (David Dawson) is looking vulnerable. Will he last the season?

STANDARD dirty-cop tale, starring Karl Urban as the former narcotics detective framed by his own team. After his release from prison, he’s hellbent on revenge.

THERE’S a mystery shopper on the loose as Sky’s comedy continues, and Romesh descends into a spiral of paranoia while trying to spot them in his pub. The women in his life, especially levelheade­d barmaid Julie (Yasmine Akram, pictured), manage his behaviour as best they can.
