Emilie lands plum social media role

- LINDA WHITNEY

DEMAND is high for staff in social media marketing. Emilie Louise, social media executive at global juice and coffee bar chain Joe & The Juice, found the way in through an unusual route.

Emilie says: ‘I worked for Joe & The Juice in Copenhagen. When I moved to London to study at The London College of Fashion, I asked to keep my role as a juicer and worked behind the bar while studying.

‘After college, I worked behind the bar full-time, but always had my heart set on joining HQ.’

Asking her director about a job in social media and communication led to a part-time role in the creative communications team.

‘Now, I split my time 70/30 between the creative communications team and behind the bar,’ says Emilie. ‘In communications I am conducting community management and supporting our media social strategy.

‘I also look for influencers to join our brand ambassador program or go out to our bars with a photographer to create visual content.’

Emilie’s tips for success in marketing involve being confident, having a willingness to learn, being open-minded and adaptable to changing marketing trends. It’s not nine to five because social media never sleeps,’ she says. Roxanne Rahimi, global head of communications at Joe & The Juice, says: ‘To work in marketing, you must be constantly curious about marketing trends, willing to learn from other brands and know your audience. Having team members who keep contact with the customers and staff is key. Testing our creative strategies, designs and new menus with the customers face to face.’
