PC irritations

-

I hOPE vegans don’t get the same anti-discrimination rights as religious groups (Mail). Most people do not harbour hateful prejudice and those who do are unlikely to be dissuaded by legislation or the finger wagging of sanctimonious diversity officers.

While noble in their intention, PCinspired doctrines cause more problems than they solve. Fair-minded people are increasingly irritated.

We can have all the rights in the world and sue each other for hurt feelings as much as possible, but one day we’ll realise we have no more wealth-creating industries left.

While we are fussing about trying to create a self-imposed society of comfort-living sybarites, developing nations are getting on with working, making them more efficient, profitable and attractive to investors.

ANGuS LONG, Newcastle upon Tyne. ThE suggestion that phrases such as ‘bringing home the bacon’, ‘killing two birds with one stone’, ‘taking the

bull by the horns’ and ‘flogging a head horse’ should be changed to suit vegans is taking things too far. They should live their lives as they see fit and leave the rest of us alone.

CHRIS SHARP, Leeds. I HAVE complained to Morrisons about a revolting poster outside some of its stores showing a butcher slicing into raw beef. Why would phrases such as ‘killing two birds with one stone’ be banned if this terrible image is allowed?
