The smart set’s talking about... Duke’s social climber Lady Bella Somerset

-

HER colourful rock musician father, Harry ‘Bunter’ Worcester, became the Duke of Beaufort in 2017, inheriting the magnificent Badminton estate, but Lady Isabella Somerset has found peace of mind 4,500 miles from the verdant acres of Gloucestershire.

She is leading trekking parties in the Himalayas after setting up travel company Bella’s Magic Mountains.

Lady Isabella, whose mother is the Duke’s former actress wife Tracy Worcester, decided to head for Nepal after battling an eating disorder. ‘It’s essentially sharing what I have found useful to find my own balance,’ the 27year-old says of the £1,200 expeditions. ‘They are a fusion of trekking and health coaching.’

She could prepare for the job while walking round the 52,000 acres at Badminton.

Her father inherited the estate after the death of her grandfather David, a compellingly glamorous figure sometimes known as ‘the great woman slayer’. Since then, Bella and her brothers, Bobby, the Marquess of Worcester, 30, and Alexander, 23, have acquired a new stepmother, Georgia Powell, granddaughter of novelist Anthony Powell.

Bella’s mother, Tracy, is proud of her venture, encouraging friends to join the treks. When Bella went to Newcastle University to study politics, Tracy declared: ‘Her main concern isn’t making money or marrying someone rich. She knows she’ll always have clothes on her back and a roof over her head.’
