Female soldier found dead after drink binge
A FEMALE soldier died after drinking too much when she returned from a posting in Germany, an inquest has heard.
Mhairi Anne Burnet, originally from Glenrothes, Fife, was found dead in a house in Bordon, Hampshire, on December 30.
The 28-year-old private was part of the Military Police in the 160 Military Provost Company, which is garrisoned at Aldershot.
Initially an investigation was set up by North East Hampshire Coroner Andrew Bradley into Private Burnet’s death. An inquest was opened in Basingstoke on Friday after tests showed cause of death to be acute alcohol intoxication.
Hampshire Police have said that Private Burnet’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
The Ministry of Defence said: ‘We can confirm that Private Mhairi Burnet was found dead in Bordon on December 30, 2018.’
