‘Serious’ fire rips through uni building
MORE than 30 firefighters were tackling a ‘serious’ blaze at Scotland’s oldest university last night.
No one was injured in the fire, which broke out in a St Andrews University science building just before 5pm.
Crews from across NorthEast Fife attended with eight fire engines. Pictures on social media showed flames and smoke at the windows.
The university tweeted: ‘The biomedical sciences building has suffered a serious fire.’
Scottish Fire and Rescue said it was attending ‘reports of a fire involving suspected hazardous materials’.
