‘Murder attempt’ baronet, 83, dies
AN elderly baronet has died 12 days after a woman appeared in court charged with attempting to murder him.
The funeral of Sir Peter Craft Hutchison, who passed away ‘peacefully’ according to a death notice, will be held at the end of this week.
Last month, an 82-year-old woman won a rare court order granting her anonymity after appearing in court accused of trying to murder Sir Peter.
The 83-year-old hereditary 2nd Baronet Hutchison of Rossie was a celebrated botanist and a past chairman of Forestry Commission Scotland.
A sheriff issued the order prohibiting publication of any reports of any legal proceedings mentioning her name.
The woman appeared on petition at Stirling Sheriff Court accused of attempted murder, in a case said to have involved the use of petrol. The hearing, on January 8, was held in private. She made no plea and was committed for further examination and granted bail.
