Blind woman was raped by maniac freed on bail af ter sex attack

- By Dave Finlay

A SeX offender raped a blind woman only weeks after being freed on bail over another sex attack.

Mikey Hoc targeted the 49-year-old after offering to help her find a taxi home, a court was told yesterday.

He subjected her to a horrific ordeal that she said ‘ruined her life’, before he ran off and left her screaming for help.

Her ordeal took place only weeks after a court freed the 19-year-old on bail when he appeared facing another rape charge. It related to an attack month earlier, when he targeted two students at a college in the edinburgh area and raped one of them. The other student hauled him off her friend during the sex assault.

A teenager also came forward to claim that Hoc raped her at a church graveyard in edinburgh city centre when she was a schoolgirl.

During Hoc’s trial at the High Court in edinburgh, he denied raping his three accusers and claimed sex was consensual.

However, he was yesterday found guilty of raping them and physically attacking a fourth woman. The blind woman told the court that on May 31 last year she had travelled to a friend’s house in a block of flats in edinburgh’s Moredun area and had a drink.

After leaving, she had lost her footing and fell. She got back up but heard voices and two men approached her. The woman said one of the men told her his name was John.

She said: ‘I asked them to help me get a taxi.’

She said ‘John’ offered to get her a cab and she took his arm and they walked for about ten minutes.

However, she was taken to what she thought was a bus stop, where Hoc raped her.

She said: ‘I just wanted him to stop. I said that to him. I begged him to leave me alone.’

She added: ‘I wanted to go home and forget about it but I couldn’t. He has ruined my life.

‘He is evil, evil. He needs to get locked away.’

on March 9 last year, Hoc attacked two student friends after turning up at their college with a bottle of Jack Daniel’s.

The 21-year-old raped by Hoc said he had grabbed her, dragged her onto a bed and covered her mouth with his hand.

She said Hoc had earlier become aggressive with her friend and pushed her down, winding her. He later held a knife to her friend’s throat. A relative of one of the student victims later contacted Hoc and told him that if he paid £3,000 in instalments, the rape would not be reported to police.

The woman told the court: ‘I knew that if he gives me the money, or even if he thinks about giving me the money, then 100 per cent he did it.’

her £100 with the words in Polish ‘for silliness’ added.

The money was transferred back days later.

A teenager also came forward and told police that Hoc raped her at the graveyard of St Cuthbert’s Church in edinburgh in November 2016 when she 15.

She told police Hoc sexually attacked her a second time the following month at a flat in Ramsay Place, Portobello, where he was staying at the time. Judge Lord Kinclaven deferred sentence on Hoc until next month for a background report and a risk assessment.

Hoc was remanded in custody and put on the sex offenders register.

Last night, Scottish Tory justice spokesman Liam Kerr said: ‘This horrifying and barbaric crime could have been prevented. It will be even more upsetting for the victim or her family to know that this man was let out of custody.

‘This simply demonstrates, again, the SNP’s soft-touch justice is endangering the Scottish public.’

The Scottish Daily Mail has previously revealed how some of Scotland’s worst criminals have been spared jail in favour of soft-touch community service sentences.

Community payback orders are being handed out for an array of serious offences, including child rape.

Under the orders, criminals have been given ‘tasks’ including litter-picking, painting and decorating, and snow clearing.
