New must-have for A-listers? A doggy wet room
SHE may be a Hollywood superstar, but Scot Tilda Swinton shuns life in LA for a more peaceful family home in the Highlands.
Yet the actress is planning some very A-list improvements to her £650,000 property – including a wet room for her dogs.
The Oscar winner wants to extend her Edwardian home in Nairn by replacing an outhouse and ‘poorly constructed library and playroom’.
She has asked Highland Council for planning permission to add a new kitchen, dining area, hallway, snug, pantry and a terrace at the B-listed house.
Miss Swinton, 58, also wants to add a ‘dog wet room’ off the proposed new snug and kitchen area for her four springer spaniels, which had a starring role in an operatic music video she directed last year.
The Chronicles of Narnia and Doctor Strange actress sought permission for similar alterations at the same property in February last year, but withdrew the application only a few weeks later. It followed objections from locals who claimed the alterations would ‘overpower the existing design’ and were ‘very strong and quite brutal’.
The latest plans were submitted on February 4 and posted online this week, and have yet to attract any comments.
Highland Council will consider the proposals later this year.
