MOTHERWELL

-

IN: Casper Sloth (Silkeborg), Declan Gallagher (Livingston), Sherwin Seedorf (Wolves), Liam Polworth (Inverness CT), Jake Carroll (Cambridge Utd), Christopher Long (Blackpool), Jermaine Hylton (Solihull Moors), Christian Ilic (Hartberg), Devante Cole (loan; Wigan Athletic), Christy Manzinga (Royal Chatelet).

OUT: Jake Hastie (Rangers), Curtis Main (Aberdeen), Carl McHugh (ATK), Shea Gordon (Partick Thistle), Kyle MacDonald (Airdrieonians), Neil McLaughlin (Edusport Academy), Alfredo Agyeman (Queen’s Park), Elliott Frear, Alex Gorrin, Aaron Taylor-Sinclair, George Newell, Christian Mbulu, Shaun Bowers, Liam Brown, Akeal Rehman, Broque Watson, Chris Cadden (Columbus Crew), Danny Johnson (Dundee).

KEY MAN: PETER HARTLEY. Dominant presence at centre-half for Motherwell. His experience was sorely missed in the backline when he spent the majority of last season out through injury.

KEY ADDITION: JERMAINE HYLTON. Plucked from non-league Solihull Moors, the striker has hit the ground running in Scotland by finding the net frequently in the Betfred Cup. Looks sure to lead the line well for the Steelmen this season.

THE conveyor belt of young talent being produced at Fir Park shows no signs of slowing. Jake Hastie has left for Rangers while David Turnbull looked set to bring in a record transfer fee for Motherwell before a move to the other half of the Old Firm collapsed because of an unfortunate underlying medical issue. It is possible that last season’s Young Player of the Year will don the claret and amber at some point this season after undergoing surgery. Youngsters James Scott and Jamie Semple could be the breakthrough stars this term. Stephen Robinson has bolstered his attack by bringing in Jermaine Hylton, Devante Cole (loan) and Christian Ilic. The Steelmen picked up one of the best players in the Scottish Championship last season by signing Inverness Caley Thistle’s Liam Polworth. Along with Dutchman Sherwin Seedorf, Polworth can provide further sparkle to a strong midfield. Motherwell not concede a goal while cruising through their Betfred Cup group.
