STRAIGHT TO THE POINT

-

I AM disabled and cannot bend low enough to read my floor-level gas meters. When I switched to Together Energy in February I informed the firm of this, but no one has come to read my meters — despite me calling customer services seven times.

R. S., Harlow, Essex.

together energy says an It system issue meant that your requests for a visit did not reach its meter-reading team. An appointment has been arranged and you have been given £50 of credit as a goodwill gesture.

I FOUND £62 worth of Premium Bonds at my father-in-law’s home after he died. I sent them to NS&I, but only received £30. I was told some certificates could not be cashed in because they were not in my father-in-law’s name.

J. H., Basildon, Essex.

NS&I confirmed the remaining £32 did not belong to any relatives you recognised, so it is a mystery as to how the bonds ended up in your father-in-law’s home. Unfortunately, it cannot discuss the matter further, as it cannot legally disclose any more information without the bond holder’s consent.

I HAVE repeatedly tried to cancel my Amazon Prime membership over the past year, but two £7.99 payments are still leaving my account each month.

C.P., Hertford Heath, Hertfordshire.

YOU were being charged twice as you signed up via two email addresses, in July 2017 and March 2018. You tried to cancel by replying to an unmonitored email address. Now both accounts have been cancelled. As you didn’t use them, Amazon issued a £319.60 refund.

IN MAY I lent a studio microphone worth more than £2,000 through the website Fat Llama and it was stolen by the borrower. The firm says it provides up to £25,000 of cover, but I have only been offered £1,200 as this is orginally what I told them it was worth. Audio equipment increases in value over time and I don’t feel this is fair.

H. K., email.

FAT Llama says this is the first time this has happened, and it is the lender’s responsibility to give an accurate valuation before approving any rental. the firm says it goes to great lengths to ensure users are aware of this and cannot do any more.
