New film is a family affair for Ewan and daughter Clara
‘I love him and I always will’
WHEN he left his wife of 22 years for a younger lover, Ewan McGregor’s eldest daughter publicly lashed out, creating a rift in the family.
But now the Star Wars actor and his eldest daughter Clara appear to have mended their relationship and will appear on the big screen together in a movie about a family feud.
The pair are appearing in The Birthday Cake, with the A-lister playsing a priest and his daughter a character named Clara.
And it appears to be very much to be a family affair, as the movie is directed by Clara’s long-term boyfriend Jimmy Giannopoulos.
Miss McGregor, 23, posted images of the filming on Instagram last week. Her sister Esther, 17, was also snapped on set. It comes just a year after Miss McGregor lashed out on social media at her father’s girlfriend, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, 34, calling her a ‘piece of trash’.
She later apologised for the comments, saying it was not her ‘finest moment’.
After meeting Miss Winstead on the set of the Netflix series Fargo, Perthshire-born McGregor, 48, split with his wife Eve Mavrakis, 53, and moved out of the family’s LA home in 2017.
Shortly afterwards, Clara responded to an Instagram fan page for Miss Winstead, accusing her of ‘tearing apart’ her family.
But at the time she said: ‘It’s brought all the women in my family much closer, but I’m still very close to my dad. I love him and I always will. The relationship’s not going to end because of this.’
