Ramsay’s second bid for £40,000 log cabin in back garden

- By Stuart MacDonald

GORDON Ramsay has been made to scale back plans for luxury ‘igloos’ in the back garden of his £7million London mansion.

The TV chef lodged plans to place a fully furnished log cabin at the rear of his property to create more space for friends and family to stay.

Made in Estonia, the cabins are known as Igluhuts and cost up to £40,000 each.

In April, the 52-year-old restaurant boss submitted proposals to have two of the chic pods built at his eight-bedroom home in Wandsworth.

However, the planning application was refused by Wandsworth Council as Ramsay had not included a tree survey which evaluates how the development would affect trees and vegetation.

The Hell’s Kitchen star has now revised the project and submitted a new application for only one Igluhut.

A tree survey submitted with the application states construction would have no ‘adverse impact’ on trees in his garden or neighbouring gardens.

Ramsay’s decision to have Igluhuts came after his wife Tana, 45, gave birth to the couple’s fifth child, Oscar, in April.

Proposals submitted to the local authority show the cabin would sit at the bottom of the garden of the Victorian home Ramsay shares with Tana, Oscar and older children Megan, 21, twins Jack and Holly, 19, and 17-year-old Matilda.

Ramsay’s planning consultants said it would be used ‘by family and guests only’ and ‘will be incidental to the enjoyment of the main property’.

The chef is waiting to hear if a separate application to have one of the huts built at his £4million holiday home in Cornwall will be approved.
