A SCOTS millionaire’s son was killed and left in the boot of an abandoned car in the US.

Adrian Bonar, 34, was found in Anaheim, California, by Highway Patrol officers who were about to tow the car. His body was wrapped in a tarpaulin.

The scene is around 75 miles from his home in Escondido.

Police identified Mr Bonar three days after his body was found on October 17.

The former US Army soldier’s father is restaurant boss Dr Brian Bonar, 72, originally from Greenock, Renfrewshire.

Mr Bonar’s sister Pauline Gourdie, 48, of Gourock, wrote a moving tribute to her sibling online. It said: ‘My heart is breaking, yet bursting with pride that you were my brother. It’s clear you were not only loved by your family but by so many whose life you touched.

‘You were taken too soon but did you live it. So proud of all that you achieved in your life, cut short by evil scum.’

Mr Bonar’s mother Linda Green, 59, who is f rom Stewarton, Ayrshire, is thought to have flown to the US for a celebration of her son’s life in Escondido last Friday.

A picture of Mr Bonar in full Highland dress was said to have been displayed while mourners wore thistles to mark his Scottish roots.

Anaheim Police said: ‘Homicide detectives have identified the man found left in the trunk of a car as Adrian Darren Bonar, from Escondido.

‘His body was discovered when officers from the California Highway Patrol prepared to tow the abandoned car.’
