Ellie to the rescue! Star saves lorry-shunt driver
POP star Ellie Goulding yesterday came to the rescue of a driver whose car was being pushed sideways by a lorry for hundreds of yards.
Dramatic footage shows drivers blasting their horns as the Royal Mail truck forces the Volkswagen down the A40 dual carriageway in west London.
Eventually, the delivery driver stops after the singer’s chauffeur manages to alert him.
The driver appears astonished to see the VW Golf GTi in front of his lorry, claiming he did not see it.
Miss Goulding, 32, is then seen getting out of a Range Rover and checking on the helpless motorist.
The Royal Mail driver can be heard yelling: ‘I didn’t see him, I honestly didn’t see him.’ He later tells the stunned Volkswagen driver: ‘Let’s pull over and I can explain.’
Miss Goulding is also heard telling a motorist videoing the crash: ‘Why are you filming? You don’t need to film it, sir.’
Sharing a screenshot of the MailOnline news story about the incident on social media, Miss Goulding wrote: ‘I’m the one in the car checking if this guy was OK – craziest thing I’ve ever seen on the road. Everyone was just driving past but my driver Guy stopped.’ A Royal Mail spokesman said: ‘We are very concerned about this incident. We sincerely hope that no one was hurt. We are investigating as a matter of urgency.’
A representative for Miss Goulding was approached for comment.
Miss Goulding married art dealer Caspar Jopling in August at York Minster at a star-studded wedding attended by Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
