Forget Love Island... Flack f lies to the US to ‘clear her head’ after her assault charge
CAROLINE Flack was yesterday spotted leaving Britain for Los Angeles, only days after appearing in court on assault charges.
The television presenter, 40, has flown to the United States to ‘clear her head’ after being charged with common assault against her 27year-old boyfriend Lewis Burton.
She kept a low profile as she arrived at the departures terminal at Heathrow airport on her own, looking stylish in black leggings, a tan leather jacket and a pair of suede ankle boots.
The former Love Island host cut a sombre figure as she strolled into the airport in a £370 Burberry scarf and black sunglasses.
She reportedly plans to spend the early part of 2020 going on long hikes and having a period of reflection before she is due to return to court in March.
She is said to feel ‘trapped’ in Britain and unable to remain in her home because of the publicity surrounding her case.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: ‘Caroline feels trapped in the UK. She can’t see or communicate with Lewis but she also doesn’t want to return to her flat.
‘Caroline isn’t someone who can sit around twiddling her thumbs until March. She’s driving herself mad, as she likes to be busy. So after spending the festive period with family and friends, she’s jetted to LA.’
The source added: ‘Whenever she’s hit hard times, she’s always “found herself ” again in the mountains, away from the limelight. She wants to feel the sunshine on her skin, do long hikes and clear her head.’
Flack was charged with common assault after a 5am bust-up with Mr
Burton, a tennis player, at the flat they share in north London. Mr Burton has defended his girlfriend on social media since the incident on December 12, and the couple are reportedly still together.
Flack has since stepped down from the upcoming series of ITV2 dating show Love Island in South Africa. She is to be replaced by Irish-born presenter Laura Whitmore.
