...as Harry breaks cover for f irst time since Megxit

- Daily Mail Reporter

THE Duke of Sussex broke cover last night for the first time since he and Meghan announced that they were standing down as senior royals.

Harry appeared in an online video to announce that the next Invictus Games for wounded service personnel and veterans will take place in Dusseldorf, Germany, in 2022.

His video came as it emerged that Harry will not fly back to Canada to be reunited with his wife and baby son Archie until next week.

Today he faces an awkward return to Buckingham Palace as he hosts the draw for the Rugby League World Cup.

The Queen will not be in residence as the duke undertakes his first major engagement since he and Meghan triggered the royal crisis last week.

Harry has meetings in the UK next week, after which he is expected to fly to Vancouver Island, where Meghan and Archie are staying in the £10.7million villa where they spent several weeks over Christmas.

The island is a celebrity hotspot favoured by the likes of Baywatch star Pamela Anderson and singer Nelly Furtado. The Sussexes enjoyed hikes and morning jogs during their stay, away from the royal spotlight.

In a sign that the duke is attempting to carry on as normal, the Invictus Games video which he recorded yesterday was posted on the Sussex Royal

Instagram account. He said in a statement: ‘Germany has been a key part of the Invictus Games family since the very start in 2014 and I know that they will be exemplary hosts in picking up the mantle and showcasing what sport continues to do for these inspirational men and women in their recovery.’

The 2022 Invictus Games will bring together more than 500 competitors from 20 nations, with events held across Dusseldorf over the course of a week.
