WOLVES WARN FANS AS VIRUS HITS CATALONIA
WOLVES have urged their supporters to ‘travel with caution’ to Barcelona after the first case of coronavirus was confirmed in the city. The Molineux club were granted an allocation of a little more than 2,000 tickets for the second leg of their Europa League last-32 tie against Espanyol, though many more supporters are thought to have flown over without tickets. A statement on the club website read: ‘All fans should be aware that there is a small number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Barcelona, as there have been in parts of the UK. ‘Wolves supporters are urged to travel with caution and encouraged to comply with any additional screening measures put in place by local authorities.’ Local officials indicated on Tuesday that the first confirmed case in the Catalonia region was a 36-year-old Italian woman who lives in Barcelona. The news is unlikely to deter Wolves supporters, who have made the trip even though their team are virtually assured of a place in the last 16 after their 4-0 win in the first leg at Molineux last week. This will be Wolves’ 45th competitive match of a campaign that started last July with their first qualifying-round meeting against Northern Irish club Crusaders. Boss Nuno Espirito Santo said: ‘It’s tough. It’s a tight schedule and it’s demanding on the players. The credit is for them, the way they compete, but it’s very tough.’
Kick-off: 5.55pm, Estadi Cornella-El Prat. TV: LIVE on BT Sport 1 . Referee: Marco Guida (Italy).
