Call for justice from man cleared of killing sister at witch shrine

- By Graeme Murray

A MAN cleared of killing his sister at a Scottish witch shrine says he wants justice for his sibling.

In a bizarre interview, Jordan Johnstone, 26, said he carried his sister Annalise’s body two miles to ensure she had a proper burial.

He claimed to have dumped the 22-yearold near a road so she could be found quickly. Mr Johnstone said he feared someone might dispose of her corpse and moved her body, although he did not elaborate on why that might happen.

He spoke about the moments before and after her death and pleaded with police to solve the case to stop people blaming him, insisting he had not killed her.

He said: ‘I want people to know I never did it.’ Mr Johnstone said his life was in tatters despite the collapse of the murder case against him and his former partner Angela Newlands, 29. His shocked father attacked him after a jury cleared him.

Police have re-opened the investigation into the death of Miss Johnstone, whose throat was slit at Maggie Wall’s memorial near Dunblane, Perthshire.

Mr Johnstone recalled how she died in his arms despite his efforts to save her. He told the Scottish Sun on Sunday: ‘I moved her somewhere she could be found the next day, which is what happened. I carried my sister. I walked until I couldn’t walk any more and put her over a wall.

‘I was trying to protect her so she got a proper burial.’

Police launched a murder investigation after the discovery of Miss Johnstone’s body in May 2018.

Mr Johnstone and motherof-four Miss Newlands were quickly arrested. He claimed his sister had joined them to transport a caravan to Inchture near Dundee. He said they stopped off at the witch monument because his ‘geeky’ sister ‘loved stuff like that’. He said that she went to look at the shrine.

Mr Johnstone recalled the moment he found Miss Johnstone, saying: ‘I saw Annalise face down and spun her round. At first I thought she had been stabbed on the chest.

‘All I could see was the blood on her chest. She wasn’t breathing properly. It was like a weird, horrible sound – like a dying animal. I took my T-shirt off and tried to put pressure on her chest.’

He claims he has since been plagued by troubles. He said: ‘I’m not this monster everyone’s making me out to be.’
