Everton eyeing Edouard
EVERTON have placed Celtic top scorer Odsonne Edouard on a list of potential summer recruits. The English Premier League side sent a scout to Glasgow for the back-to-back home games against Kilmarnock in the Premiership and Copenhagen in the Europa League. Goodison Park manager Carlo Ancelotti
wants to add firepower to his team after Italy international Moise Keane’s disappointing return of one goal in 25 appearances since his arrival from Juventus last summer. Doubts also remain over the long-term future of Brazilian attacker Richarlison following his links with Barcelona in the January transfer window. Tracked by napoli before Ancelotti’s exit from the serie A outfit, 22-year-old Edouard has scored 27 goals in 44 games for neil Lennon’s team this season. Under contract until 2022, Celtic are prepared to offer the France Under-21 international a pay rise and another year to stay for a tilt at ten-in-a-row — with an agreement that he can leave in the summer of 2021 if an acceptable offer is received. Claiming he knows nothing of any negotiations, however, Lennon said earlier this week: ‘I’d give him a five-year deal tomorrow if I could, but I don’t know anything about that. ‘I would know if there were talks. If there’s anything in the offing, then that would be great, but I haven’t touched on it with (chief executive) Peter Lawwell yet.’ Paris saint-Germain, who sold Edouard to Celtic for £9million in June 2018, retain a sell-on clause which guarantees them a sizeable chunk of any future sale fee for their former player. Celtic believe they can secure more than the £25m Arsenal paid for defender Kieran Tierney if the striker leaves.
