Get on the f loor!
Caught on armed policeman’s bodycam, dramatic moment he arrested knife killer
THIS is the moment a killer was arrested at gunpoint in the street – captured by a body-mounted camera looking down the barrel of the officer’s weapon.
Ravinder Heer, 37, turned up at his ex-girlfriend’s house and stabbed Dale Grice, 32, in the back.
He was later found drunkenly stumbling in a suburban street and on Thursday Heer was found guilty of manslaughter.
A court heard Mr Grice was attacked after he tried to defuse the situation at the property. The father of two died at the scene in Kingstanding, Birmingham, last September.
Heer drove away after the attack but was arrested within two hours.
Bodycam footage shows the killer – who was holding a silver car key – getting on to all fours as the officer, brandishing a semiautomatic firearm, shouts: ‘Armed police, stay where you are.
‘Put your hands on the floor. Get on the floor! Get on the floor now!’
After he was arrested, Heer asked officers – who had not mentioned the victim’s name: ‘Is someone dead? Dale Grice is not breathing any more?’ He then asked: ‘Who grassed me up?’
Heer, a construction worker, was cleared of murder but was found guilty of manslaughter at Birmingham Crown Court.
Following the conviction, West Midlands Police released CCTV footage of Heer buying two cans of Stella Artois lager five minutes after the attack.
He crashed his car shortly after and then staggered into another shop to buy more alcohol.
Cameras at the second convenience store showed Heer jabbing a shop worker in the chest for refusing to serve him. Heer – from Walsall – will be sentenced on April 3. Mr Grice’s family said he was the ‘most loyal, hard-working and loving son, dad, grandson and friend anyone could ever meet’.
Detective Inspector Jim Mahon said Mr Grice ‘acted in a selfless manner to protect a friend from suffering possessive control at the hands of an ex-partner’.
