Satellite choice
FOOTBALL Chelsea v Manchester City, 7.30pm, BT Sport 1
WHAT could be a pivotal few days in Chelsea’s season begins with the visit of second-placed City, who have been in formidable form since the Premier League restart, scoring eight unanswered goals. Then, on Sunday, the Blues travel to Leicester for their FA Cup quarter-final.
ON-DEMAND MOVIE Mine 9, Virgin Movies
SIMPLE and occasionally effective drama in which nine men are trapped in a West Virginia coal mine. It’s quite atmospheric, especially during the collapse, but could have done with fewer cliches.
SUPERHERO SQUAD DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, 8pm, Sky One
OF ALL Sky’s DC superhero shows, Legends has by far the most fun with the genre. Tonight, the timetravelling band (including Caity Lotz, pictured, as Sara Lance) find themselves thrown into TV shows that look a lot like Friends, Downton Abbey and Star Trek.
CHRISTIAN SOCIETY Quakers: The Quiet Revolutionaries, 8.30pm, PBS America
THE steady, peaceful nature of the Quaker faith is explored in this new documentary, which also looks at how far ahead they were on gender equality. Alice Paul was a Quaker, and campaigned strongly for women’s suffrage in the UK and U.S.
FANTASY DRAMA Outlander, 9pm, More4
CLAIRE (Caitriona Balfe, pictured with Tim Downie) is starstruck by George Washington in this new episode, in which she’s also able to show off her 20thcentury surgery skills. Despite these distractions, though, you can see she’s missing Brianna — so it’s just as well her daughter has travelled 200 years to find her. It can’t be too long before
they’re reunited . . .
CAR CONVERSION Vintage Voltage, 9pm, Quest
CLASSIC motors are converted to electric in this interesting and very specific new British car makeover show. The first candidate to roll into Richard ‘Moggy’ Morgan’s garage is a 1967 VW Karmann Ghia, which currently has a 40hp engine; an electric makeover will triple that.
FUNNY MOVIE The Interview, 9pm, 5 Star
POLITICAL comedy starring Seth Rogen and James Franco as journalists landing the scoop of their careers when they get an interview with North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un. But then, the CIA approach them with a dangerous plan. It’s on the tasteless side, but the two leads are a blast.
FESTIVAL FOOTAGE Glastonbury, 10pm, BBC4
IT’S Glastonbury’s 50th anniversary this year and, while there’s no festival to mark it, there’s also no shortage of history to dig into for the TV coverage that usually goes alongside. This is Julien Temple’s documentary celebration from 2006, which hears from founder Michael Eavis, and weaves a magical spell.
PAST ITS BEST Eating History, 10pm, Sky History
IN 1976, Billy Carter became known for his antics while his brother, Jimmy, was campaigning to become U.S. President. A brewery produced the ‘Billy’ beer to cash in on the popularity of this ‘lovable redneck goofball’ — now, Old Smokey and Josh crack open a can and give it a try. It’s not nice.
CRIME THRILLER Stray Dolls, 10pm, Sky Premiere
FEMALE-led thriller following an Indian immigrant, working as a hotel maid, who gets sucked into a grimy world of petty crime and violence. Sex & The City’s Cynthia Nixon is among the cast.
