GHISLAINE TO APPEAR IN COURT BY VIDEO
GHISLAINE Maxwell will be allowed to dodge the world’s media when she appears in court for the first time over child sex charges next week, it emerged yesterday.
The British socialite, 5 , will appear via videolink from prison amid coronavirus precautions. She is alleged to have groomed girls who were sexually abused by her former boyfriend, paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. She has denied all allegations.
Maxwell is currently being held at a detention centre in New York amid speculation she could strike a deal with prosecutors. A friend claimed she had a secret cache of incriminating sex tapes.
Epstein, 66, hanged himself in prison last year after he was charged with sex trafficking and conspiracy. He previously told a journalist he had potentially damaging material filed away about some of the famous friends.
A former friend of Maxwell said: ‘She knows where all the bodies are buried.’ Her arrest has piled pressure on Prince Andrew. Maxwell introduced him to the financier. He has denied seeing or suspecting anything untoward.
US lawyer Gloria Allred, who represents 16 Epstein victims, said: ‘If I were Prince Andrew I would want to speak to the prosecutors before Miss Maxwell. The clock is ticking. She could decide to speak to them at any time.’
Maxwell, who is reportedly being kept in isolation for 14 days in jail because of the coronavirus threat, is expected to apply for bail in court next Tuesday.
