EQUINE TALE Mystic, 5pm, CBBC

IN PART two of this well-judged drama, it’s decision time for angry London teen Issie (Macey Chipping). Will she leave behind the New Zealand she claims to hate, or succumb to the pull of that spirit horse only she can see? Without spoiling it, we can reveal that there’s a smile on her face by the end.

FOOTBALL Watford v Manchester City, 5.30pm, Sky One, Premier League, Main Event & Pick

IT’S not a likely outcome, but Watford know victory against City tonight will all but secure their Premier League survival. It would leave Aston Villa, whose clash with Arsenal follows (8pm, Sky Premier League & Main Event) needing two big wins to avoid the drop back into the Championship.

COMEDY DRAMA Palm Beach, 6.15pm, Sky Premiere

IN THE Sydney suburb of the title, a group of old friends reunite for a celebration, during which old regrets bubble to the surface. Sam Neill, Richard E. Grant and Greta Scacchi star.

RULING DYNASTY Empire of the Tsars: Romanov Russia With Lucy Worsley, 9pm, BBC4

LUCY WORSLEY’S first subject is Peter the Great. Peter was a moderniser who spent a year in Europe learning about the latest naval technologies — in London, he worked hard in the shipyards, but he mucked about quite a lot. Racing wheelbarrows, apparently.

FORTIES-SET DRAMA The Plot Against America, 9pm, Sky Atlantic

PLANS to make Jewish children ‘more American’ gather pace in this double bill of HBO’s nuanced drama, which also follows Alvin (Anthony Boyle, pictured) to war-shattered Britain, and into the intelligence unit. The most chilling sight, though, is when the U.S. President shakes hands with Hitler.

TRAGIC CASE Murder Masterminds, 9pm, Crime + Investigation

TONIGHT’S new case in this U.S. true-crime series is a tragic one. At 18 years old, and less than 48 hours after her prom, Ohio’s Brooke Skylar Richardson gave birth to a baby in secret. She told police the infant was stillborn, and that she buried it — then, Brooke was charged with murder. (Sky 156, Virgin 209)

STAND-UP SPECIAL Jack Whitehall: I’m Only Joking, Netflix

WHITE HOUSE SATIRE Our Cartoon President, 9.35pm, Sky Comedy

CHILLING FILM The Act Of Killing, 10.45pm, Sky Documentaries

IN THIS indescribably raw, Oscarnominated documentary, former members of Indonesia’s Sixties government-sponsored death squads are asked to re-enact some of their many executions. It’s utterly compelling — but not for the faint-hearted. (Sky 114, Virgin 277)
