‘It's nice to be able to do something for ourselves'

-

After the last of their grown up children left the nest, Andrew and Susan felt it was the perfect time for them to supplement their finances and tick off some of the things on their list that they’ve always wanted to do.

“We originally saw an advert for equity release as it became more popular and liked the look of it,” explains Andrew.

After discussing it between themselves, they decided on an initial consultation over the phone to explore the different equity release plans available. Andrew says, “It was quick and straight forward, and we found it convenient not having to travel. Once we decided to proceed, the process was really simple. We were impressed that the solicitors even gave us the option of coming to our house for the appointment.”

Since their case completed, they have been enjoying the benefits of the taxfree cash, including being able to repay a credit card bill. Their family have seen the couple enjoy the benefits equity release has given them, especially the new car and having peace of mind while being able to remain in their family home.

With a rainy day fund secure, Andrew and Susan can now look to the future.

They plan to carry out some home improvements, and as their children have their own homes they look forward to help with redecorating. “It’s nice to be able to do something for ourselves” Andrew says.

“Our view is that you won’t be here forever to see the value in your house, and you can’t take it with you - so you may as well take the opportunity to enjoy it now.”
