2 YEARS’JAIL FOR HAVING A HOUSE PARTY

- By Gordon Currie

A NEIGHBOUR from hell who threatened to infect police officers with Covid19 when they arrived to break up an all-night party has been jailed for more than two years.

Sarah Stewart, 23, tore masks off the officers and said she had coronavirus. She also threatened to firebomb their homes and kill their families.

Stewart, of Perth, already had an antisocial behaviour order (Asbo) against her.

Eilidh Robertson, prosecuting, told Dundee Sheriff Court that Stewart’s upstairs neighbour called police five times between 10.40pm on June 6 and 8am the following day.

She said the woman had made a number of previous complaints about noise and ‘it was having an impact on her mental and physical health’.

Miss Robertson said ‘three or four people were present’ at the party with ‘loud music, screaming and banging’.

When police arrived in response to a call made at 12.40am ‘the accused turned off the music’ but ‘within 15 minutes’ it was back on. Items were also being thrown out of the flat at 4am.

The neighbour called police a fourth time and then again at 6.40am. Four officers arrived at 8am and heard loud music.

Stewart launched a foulmouthed rant at the officers, telling them: ‘I have the virus and will spit on you all.

‘I will find your children and slit their throats and stab your mum and dad.’

The court was told Stewart did not get tested for Covid. On Tuesday, Stewart admitted breaching her Asbo on June 6 and 7 by shouting, swearing, screaming, slamming doors, fighting, playing loud music and having more than one visitor.

She also admitted assaulting police officers, seizing their PPE and threatening to spit while saying she had coronavirus, and threatening to kill the officers and their families.

Sheriff Tom Hughes jailed Stewart for 27 months.
