Davina: I’m a foxy minx in my fifties

... and calling me old just makes me really naughty

- By Eleanor Sharples TV and Radio Reporter

SHE has admitted to feeling like a ‘foxy minx’ in her 50s after shedding pounds on the ‘divorce diet’.

And Davina McCall has rejected the notion that women’s sex lives are over after the menopause.

The TV presenter, 52, who says she lost weight simply by ‘running on adrenaline’ after her marriage ended in 2017, insists that she still wants to be ‘naughty’ and that women over 50 still enjoy sex.

‘I don’t look as good naked as I did in my 20s,’ she said. ‘But I feel better, and that’s the difference.

‘I walk around like a foxy minx now because I feel like a foxy minx.

‘Women over 50 feel sexy, we can dress sexily and we can wear underwear and we still enjoy orgasms. People say, “Oh, it’s all gone... menopause... you’re finished with your wizened, dried-up ovaries.”

‘I feel like it’s really important to say that people in their 50s are having the time of their lives.’

Miss McCall also said that she always has the same reaction if people class her as an ‘older woman’.

She said: ‘I feel like whenever people start trying to put me in that box, it makes me want to be really naughty.

‘I want to do something outlandish and unexpected and outrageous.’

The former Big Brother presenter, who started the perimenopause when she was 44, said she suffered from ‘night sweats’ and a ‘lack of sleep’ until she started hormone replacement therapy. She said: ‘I just never slept through... [but] from the minute I put the little [hormone replacement therapy] patch on – boom, sleep. Oh my God, the joy. I felt like I was back.’ Miss McCall went through a painful divorce from her actor husband Matthew Robertson, 51, splitting up after 17 years of marriage three years ago. They have three children, Holly, 18, Tilly, 16, and Chester, 13. Selfies she posted on Instagram after their marriage ended sparked comments about her weight loss. She told Women’s Health magazine that people do not always think about ‘the sadness’. ‘It’s called the divorce diet, where you just literally shed [weight],’ she said. ‘It happens to so many people I know.

‘It was nothing I did. I was just running on adrenaline.

‘Quite a few people [understood] and were like, “I think she’s having a hard time, maybe we should lay off.” But there were lots of people who didn’t.’

Miss McCall is currently dating hairdresser Michael Douglas.
