How Wills and Kate hit notorious nightspot in Ibiza for wild night out
AS the floor shook to thumping house music, a young couple joined the dozens of clubbers dancing with abandon.
For there, enjoying a wild night at one of Ibiza’s most legendary and hedonistic nightspots, was... Kate and William.
The duke and duchess hit superclub Pacha during a holiday to the party island in 2006, before they were married.
And they had such a good time that William called the party supremo who organised the night out to say thank you the following day, it has emerged.
During the trip the Cambridges were guests of DJ Erick Morillo and Francisco Ferrer, the club’s artistic director. Recalling the outing in an online tribute to Morillo, who died this week, Ibiza party organiser Tony Truman said he was ‘blown away’ when William called to thank him.
He said: ‘A story just came to me about Erick that I will never forget many moons ago... HRH Prince William came to Ibiza and I had the pleasure to help arrange his party plans while on the island with Kate and their entourage.
‘I asked Eric and Francisco Ferrer to look after him at Pacha for Erick’s Subliminal Records night.
‘They obviously done a great job as the next day I get a call from HRH William (like you casually do) and Wills says thank you Tony, I was not a fan of house music until last night and your friend Erick was amazing, now I love it.
‘I was blown away, not just by Wills casually calling me, but that Erick had got the royal R’n’B-loving posse into house music.’
During the holiday, which came while William was on a break from military training at Sandhurst, the Cambridges were pictured on a yacht. According to royal experts, it was one of just a handful of times he felt able to let his hair down.
Kate’s siblings Pippa and James were also on the holiday, as well as Harry and William’s friend Guy Pelly. A year later, the duke and duchess temporarily split, blaming the pressure of being in the public eye.
