Lily’s Vegas chapel of love
PERHAPS they decided it’s now or never or maybe they were all shook up.
Whatever the reason, singer Lily Allen and actor David Harbour seem to have taken an impulsive decision to get married – in a ceremony performed by an Elvis impersonator.
They tied the knot at the Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas on Monday, the day after they obtained their marriage licence.
Miss Allen, 35, has been dating Harbour, 45, who starred in the Netflix sci-fi drama Stranger Things, for a year. They were married by Brendan Paul, owner of the venue and one of Las Vegas’s most famous Elvis impersonators.
The bride and groom did not have to wear face masks. Miss Allen wore a £4,000 Sixties-inspired short white Dior wedding dress and veil, with black shoes, and carried a bouquet of roses. Her daughters from her first marriage, Ethel, eight, and Marnie, seven, were guests.
Afterwards Harbour posted a picture on Instagram of him carrying his new wife outside the chapel alongside Mr Paul.
And for an Elvis-themed ceremony, there could be only one wedding breakfast to follow – burgers. Miss Allen, who used her previous married name, Lily Cooper, on the marriage certificate, shared images of the pair, still in their wedding clothes, tucking into an alfresco meal at fast food chain In-N-Out.
She also posted a pose of her laughing in the street with her suited and booted husband.
The Graceland Wedding Chapel is a favourite venue with celebrities. Among stars to marry or renew vows there are rocker Jon Bon Jovi, singer Billy Ray Cyrus, actress Andie MacDowell and Thompson Twins musicians Tom Bailey and Alannah Currie.
Miss Allen and Harbour, who had supporting roles in Brokeback Mountain and Quantum of Solace, went public with their relationship last October. In May, she showed off a diamond ring in a social media post.
The singer’s second marriage was very different to her first in 2011, when she wed builder and decorator Sam Cooper at a village church in Gloucestershire.
They split in 2015 and share custody of Ethel and Marnie.
