FEMAIL’S FASHION VERDICT

- AMY KESTER, Assistant Style Editor

AN uncanny coincidence? Most definitely. But if any coat was likely to show up in numbers this season, the yellow, quilted jacket was a good bet.

With socialising in 2020 confined mainly to outdoors, we’ve never relied more on our trusty coats. And the trustiest has to be the padded jacket. The quilted style makes them super-warm, plus they look great worn with pretty much anything.

But why yellow, you may ask? Well that too seems to be colour of the season – providing a flash of brightness we’ve all needed. In this photo, the lady at the front of the queue is wearing the Gosway chevron quilt padded coat from Joules, which was £169 but has been reduced to £49.95.

The other three appear to be wearing styles from earlier seasons. Second and third are jackets by Benetton, where a similar hooded puffer is £99, and Primark, which would have cost around £15.

The woman at the back is wearing a lightweight feather and down jacket from Marks & Spencer, which can currently be bought in different shades for £49.50.
