It’s A Small World!

-

On FRIDAY, november 13, my daughter, Caroline, took me for a walk round Frensham Little Pond, a local beauty spot. We greeted other walkers as we strolled along, and I said hello to a cheerful elderly man. His lady companion was walking along a low wall with her dog. As she looked friendly, I jokingly threatened to push her into the water. She laughingly objected, but I stressed: ‘I can do anything I like today, because today is my 80th birthday!’ The lady replied ‘Snap!’ and pointed to the elderly gentleman. ‘He’s 80 today, too!’ Then the cheerful chappie advanced towards me with a twinkle in his eye: ‘Let’s have a birthday kiss.’ Well, there is still life in this old bird and I was up for it, but then I remembered social distancing and jokily held him back with my walking stick. He asked me if I had anyone waiting for me at home! Caroline laughed. ‘Mum, you’ve pulled!’ now we have a date — same time, same place, november 13 next year.
