Dodson upbeat despite losses
THE SRU last night announced they are not anticipating the need to make any compulsory redundancies among its 450 staff — but warned that could change if fans were locked out of grounds much longer. The governing body have yet to post their full accounts but chief executive Mark Dodson said that while their losses had not been severe as of yet, the organisation would be looking at an £18million hit if supporters did not return for the Six Nations — which could rise to £30m by the end of next year if the situation did not improve. Insisting the financial information he referenced was subject to final audit, Dodson said: ‘Scottish Rugby was a strong business going into this pandemic and will still be a strong business when we come out of this crisis.’
