Call off Highers, say par­ents

A MA­JOR­ITY of par­ents be­lieve Higher and Advanced Higher ex­ams should be can­celled next year.

Na­tional 5 ex­ams for younger pupils have al­ready been scrapped but other ex­ams are due to go ahead in May.

Just over a quar­ter of par­ents (2 . per cent) agree they should con­tinue in 2021, while 50. per cent want them to be can­celled be­cause of dis­rup­tion to learn­ing caused by the coro­n­avirus pandemic, ac­cord­ing to a Na­tional Par­ent Fo­rum of Scot­land sur­vey of 4,19 .

A Scot­tish Gov­ern­ment de­ci­sion will be made by mid-Fe­bru­ary. A spokesman said: ‘We are mon­i­tor­ing the po­si­tion closely and lis­ten­ing to dif­fer­ent views, so we wel­come this sur­vey.’
