Sturgeon’s foolish lapse

-

NICOLA Sturgeon’s failure to wear a mask at a pub wake was arguably no more than careless and foolish.

Theoretically she should be fined, though this seems unlikely.

Her lapse serves as a reminder, however, that her former colleague Margaret ferrier not only remains in her £80,000-a-year MP job, but has still avoided being charged – and she potentially endangered lives by travelling hundreds of miles by train and wandering around while suspecting or knowing she had Covid-19.

Many may feel Miss Sturgeon should be forgiven for her lapse; i’d suggest most of us continue to believe Miss ferrier should not.

MARTIN REDFERN, Melrose, Roxburghshire.

JUSTICE Secretary Humza yousaf tweets that his boss’s blunder over wearing a mask in a pub was merely an ‘accidental lapse’.

Such unconditional backing for the first Minister is touching. Mr yousaf was quick to criticise the admittedly unpleasant dominic Cummings, but nicola Sturgeon and Margaret ferrier seem to be special cases.

ALEXANDER MCKAY, Edinburgh.

WHeTHer you are a nicola Sturgeon supporter or not, the outrage from some quarters over her momentarily forgetting to wear her mask makes me really angry.

Who hasn’t forgotten to reapply/ put on their mask at some point? Good for you if you’ve never erred, but i’ve done this at least twice.

Give the first Minister a break... and anyone else who makes this brief blunder for that matter.

Judi MarTiN, Maryculter, aberdeenshire.

PerHaPS our first Minister could make amends by wearing a mask in the Holyrood chamber and during the daily ‘nicola Show’ on TV – then we won’t have to listen to all her guff about how wonderful the SnP is!
