IT’S now a quarter of a century old, but Andrew Davies’s adaptation, with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle (pictured), remains undimmed, and the furore over thehe changes it made to Jane Austen’s novel (especially the ending) is long forgotten. Enjoy the whole thing this afternoon.
MARTIAL ARTS TALE Cobra Kai, Netflix
THIS Karate Kid sequel series picks up the rivalry of Daniel and Johnny more than 30 years after the original film, which is also on Netflix. Season three is a busy one that digs deep into the film series’ past for plot, and has some good comedy (including a great Tango & Cash gag).
FOOTBALL Everton v West Ham United, 5pm, BT Sport 1
AFTER their match against Manchester City was postponed because of Covid, Everton will be fresher than the visitors — can they take advantage to climb to second in the league? Later, Manchester United host an Aston Villa side who are undefeated since November (7.30pm, Sky Premier League & Main Event).
SWEET TREATS Rachel Khoo’s Chocolate, discovery+
THERE are recipes for chocolate dishes in this new series, but also an enthusiastic dive into the mechanics of taste and more. It’s an odyssey of sorts, and one Khoo clearly loved making.
MYTHICAL BEAST Bigfoot Files, 6pm, Blaze
THIS search for the elusive yeti, sasquatch or almasty feels unusually authoritative. It’s fuelled by the work of Oxford Professor Bryan Sykes, who is testing samples of alleged bigfoot hair for a genetic programme, and is very no-nonsense about it all. Les Dawson Forever, 6pm, ITV3
FAMILY and friends — including Les Dawson’s longtime comedy partner, Roy Barraclough — queue up to pay tribute to the genius of a comedian who died in 1993, aged 62. This two-part tribute features a host of great clips, especially of Barraclough and Dawson as Cissie and Ada.
Bad Boys For Life, 8pm, Sky Premiere
SEVENTEEN years older, Martin Lawrence and Will Smith (pictured) return as the mismatched cop duo. It’s an enjoyable excuse to watch them insulting each other and blowing stuff up.
TRAGIC SINGER Whitney At The BBC, 9pm, BBC4
A NEW collection of Whitney Houston’s finest performances at the BBC down the years, going hit by hit from the Eghties onwards. It’s followed by Nick Broomfield’s excellent profile of the singer, which blends rare archive with interviews, and places her death in 2012 in an even more tragic context.
COMEDY LEGEND The Great Buster, 9pm, Sky Arts
THE silent-movie comedian Buster Keaton was at his career peak nearly a century ago, with incredibly technical and dangerous movies such as The General. This high-end new profile hears from Dick Van Dyke, Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner and Werner Herzog about the man’s genius and tragedies.
McQueen: The Lost Film, 9pm, Sky Documentaries
IN THE mid-Sixties, Steve McQueen started but never finished work on a movie, and all footage was thought lost. This new documentary tells the intriguing story of those reels, but it’s the wider tale of the film’s production that is most compelling. (Sky 114, Virgin 277)
