LOCKDOWN BLUES

Well I woke up this morning and looked at the sky; I wondered what day it was and asked myself why I couldn’t recall what I’d done yesterday: Was it Sunday, Monday or even Saturday?

I have loads to do, but lack motivation. Will this be the day for my vaccination? I’ve become adept at procrastination — What’s the rush? I have no destination.

Zoom in, Zoom out, that’s all we can do To connect with others and be more than two. There’s time for reflection, to read and to learn; Do something creative; and yet I yearn For human contact, a touch, a hug — All denied because of a bug!

Well I woke up this morning and looked at the sky; And then I saw my neighbour pass by. We smiled; we waved; then gave a thumbs up With no chance of a natter over mug or cup.

Life is slower, with more relaxed breathing. No sense in rushing; no point in seething. Can’t go to the gym — oh what a pain — But I could just go back to bed again!

Well I woke up this morning and looked at the sky. I heard their songs before I saw them fly. The joy of the birds, and the peace in the air, And the joy of not having to do my hair.

When I woke up this morning and looked at the sky: A riot of colour, a wondrous sunrise. The beauty of nature we must not forget Can fill the void inside and yet — No cares of home schooling with kids at my feet. No worries of looking untidy or neat. I can wear my pyjamas every day with ease, I’m free to do just as I please. When I woke up this morning I let out a sigh. One should always be grateful — I promise I’ll try!
