Royal Family will survive unscathed

-

THE Queen has given her life to this country and it is beyond words how her grandson and his wife may have undone all this hard work. When we cheered Harry and Meghan on their wedding day, we all wished them well. My heart goes out to Her Majesty.

SARAH CLARKE, Chesterfield, Derbys.

THE Americans have always been jealous of our royalty, history and the splendid events we stage for special occasions. They are gleeful at the problems that have arisen over the Harry and Meghan interview, and the Prince Andrew affair. Most people in this country are proud and supportive of our Royal Family. so let’s not pay so much attention to the whingeing of minor royals across the Atlantic.

WENDY PARKER, Solihull, W. Mids.

As A former soldier, one of the proudest days of my life was taking the Oath of Allegiance when I declared my ‘true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, her heirs and successors’. I feel morally and duty bound to uphold that oath for the rest of my life. I am sure former servicemen will be appalled at the behaviour of another former soldier, captain Harry Wales. He would have been responsible for the wellbeing of soldiers under his command. He might wish to reflect on whether he would have solved one of his men’s family problems in the way he’s approached his own situation.

ROBERT MARSHALL, Tiverton, Devon.

IT WOULd have been better if Harry had followed William’s advice and spent longer introducing Meghan to what being a royal entails. It’s a life dedicated to supporting the sovereign by giving up a lot of freedom, including freedom of speech. The royals must obey umpteen rules and protocols, and work hard representing our country. In return, they live in luxury and have many privileges. We admire Kate for proving to be an asset to the Royal Family working beside William. I feel our monarchy is in safe hands. I wish Harry and Meghan had made their mark by taking a responsible commonwealth position, which would have been fulfilling for them. Let us hope they will have a happy and successful life in the U.s.

Mrs C. ROBERTSON, Rugby, Warks.

THE duke and duchess of sussex have seriously embarrassed themselves and driven a wedge deeper between Harry and his family. The Royal Family will no doubt be hurt and angered, but they will get through it together. In contrast, Harry and Meghan are out in the cold on their own. This country took the duchess to their hearts and welcomed her, but she has alienated us. I fear it will all end in tears and not crocodile ones.

MIKE CATTERALL, Accrington, Lancs.

I AM so saddened by the interview with Harry and Meghan that I have been tearful and feel as if my own family has been trashed. Why would two people who have got exactly what they wanted and are happy create such pain for others?

SHIRLEY HARRIES, Nueva Andalucia, Spain.

IF HARRY and Meghan despise the Royal Family, they should do the right thing and relinquish their titles instead of making money off the back of them. Alternatively, I don’t think that anyone would blame Her Majesty for removing them.

GARRY CARR, Bideford, Devon.
