RANGERS BOSS WILL WAIT FOR RIGHT TIME TO DISH OUT DEALS

- By MARK WILSON

STEVEN GERRARD insists Rangers will reward their title-winning heroes with new contracts when the timing is right. The Ibrox boss confirmed after Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Slavia Prague that the club had already opened talks with Allan McGregor over another year’s stay. Steven Davis is another veteran player out of contract this summer, but Rangers will also look further ahead in their planning. Captain James Tavernier and Connor Goldson are approaching the final year of their existing deals, while Gerrard has long called for Glen Kamara to be given improved terms. The 40-year-old feels there is no immediate rush but insists that the club know what needs to be done. ‘Listen, I think we just need time to breathe,’ said Gerrard. ‘It’s only days and hours after a league title win, the first in ten years. ‘Everyone is on an incredible high and this game (against Slavia) has come around extremely quick. We have managed to set it up nicely for next week. ‘We’re well aware of all the players’ contracts and where they sit, and what we need to do. ‘In the right time we’ll go to people we want to improve or extend deals. Myself, Ross Wilson (director of football) and the board are all aware of that. But we need time to breathe first. ‘Those moments will come. We don’t have a game at the weekend and then we have an international break on the horizon. Then it’s the summer. ‘In time, people will be rewarded for what they have given the club over the last three years.’
