KAMARA ‘ABUSE’ CLAIMS

-

Stanciu sealed the tie by netting a terrific free-kick to complete a 3-1 aggregate win. But the game ended with Rangers players irate after Slavia defender Ondrej Kudela covered his mouth and whispered something to home midfielder Glen Kamara. There were then further angry words spoken between both sets of coaching staffs following the final whistle. Ibrox midfielder Steven Davis had been replaced by the time of the incident and was unable to shed a light on the controversy. But he was unhappy with Slavia’s sportsmanship all evening. The Northern Irish international said: ‘I was sitting up in the stand, so I haven’t heard. I came straight to do the interview so I haven’t heard yet. ‘But it (Slavia’s sportsmanship) was a little bit disappointing. It was hard to get a rhythm in the game and they seemed to go down very easily and play on it a little bit and make it a difficult night for the referee. ‘But that is what you come up against in European football and we are used to that. We know that style. We just have to deal with it.’ Davis insisted that Roofe had not meant the ugly challenge that meant Slavia keeper Kolar could not continue. And he urged his side to bounce back quickly with the next match an Old Firm derby at Celtic Park on Sunday. He said: ‘I didn’t have a great view of it but with the challenge there is no malice in it. He (Roofe) has obviously caught the lad because I have seen him afterwards. But he has gone for the ball. ‘We have enjoyed the European adventure but the immediate emotion tonight is one of disappointment because we felt that we could have progressed. ‘But we have to pick ourselves up because we have got a massive game on Sunday to look forward to.’
