Should you need to show a vaccination passport to buy a drink in a pub?

-

WHEN I had my first jab at Epsom racecourse, I was given a credit card-sized form detailing the time, date and type of vaccination I had received. I attached the ‘I’ve had the jab’ sticker to my jacket lapel so it would be visible to everyone. What more identification would you need to buy a pint?

BILL ANDERSON, Epsom Downs, Surrey.

WhAt a mean and unwelcoming nation we would become if vaccine passports are introduced in pubs, as has been suggested. the last time they were open, I felt constantly on edge in case I put a foot out of place and received a telling-off from the bar staff or other customers. the thought of being asked to produce my papers at the door would really put me off.

DAVID SALT, Bridgend, Mid Glamorgan.

WILL MPs have to provide proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test before being allowed into the Commons bars?

G. MARRIOTT, Northampton.

NO PROOF of vaccination, no entry to pubs, cinemas or theatres. I am all for vaccine passports, but due to the likelihood of counterfeiting, I wonder if such a scheme would work.

COLIN GRIMMER, Lowestoft, Suffolk.

LANDLORDS have no need of laws to give them permission to exclude from their premises anyone who hasn’t had the Covid jab. They can already bar entry to anyone they please.

ERIC McLACHLAN, Epsom, Surrey.

IF YOU just need proof that you have been vaccinated to enter a pub, surely they could open tomorrow.

M. SHARP, London SE2.

THE publicans who are rejecting the

idea of a Covid passport seem more concerned about profits than public health. I am not prepared to set foot in any establishment that does not care whether its customers have been vaccinated or not.

GRAHAM MARSH, Stockport, Cheshire.

IT’S ridiculous that you may need a vaccine passport to go to the pub or a place of entertainment, but not if you work closely with vulnerable people in hospitals or care homes. Mrs A. RUTH COMBER,

Steyning, W. Sussex.

WHY should pub staff have to monitor who has or hasn’t had a jab? They are in business to serve food and drink, not act as another arm of the Covid police. As if hospitality hasn’t had enough problems in the past year.

DON HEWITT, Stamford, Lincs.

TECHNOPHOBE oldies like me are aghast at the calls for a high-tech vaccine passport. Our phones aren’t smart and we can’t do apps. So even though we’re vaccinated, we can’t prove it. Will we be banned from pubs?

LYNN PICKNETT, Croydon, Surrey.

WHEN pubs and restaurants re-open, could there be one section for the jabbed and one for the unjabbed, just like the smoking and no-smoking bars of the past? PETER STEWARD, Great Horkesley, Essex.
